Posterior wall acetabular fracture

A female patient was involved in an accident while driving a scooter. Among a number of injuries, she had got a closed comminuted fracture of the posterior wall of the right acetabulum with femur dislocation.
After admission, we relocated the hip and 5 days later performed open reduction and definitive fixation of the pelvis. The surgery was carried out through the Kocher-Langebeck approach, the patient was in prone position. Free osteochondral fragments were removed from the joint. We eliminated the impression of the articular surface with bone grafting from the greater trochanter, and performed osteosynthesis with steel plates and screws.
The next day, the patient moved to rehab.
