The main solution to such problems is soft tissue coverage. For the distal parts of the lower extremity, a sural flap is a good option for plastic surgery. This type of plasty does not require microsurgical techniques. The flap is very mobile due to the length of the vascular bundle, and it is thin enough so as not to create an excess of soft tissues on the foot.
In this clinical case, the tissue defect is closed with a sural flap, and the donor area is covered with a split skin autograft. Both flaps were engrafted, there were no complications.
The photographs show the condition of the lower leg and foot immediately after the operation, as well as 3 months after the plastic surgery.
